Sponsored Skydive

25th Anniversary Sponsored Skydive

We are asking supporters to jump into action and help raise funds for Compton Hospice.

After the success of our 25th Anniversary jump, we would like volunteers to sign up to 2008's high-flying challenge.

The sponsored tandem skydive, involves freefalling at 120 mph from 10,000ft whilst harnessed to a fully qualified skydive instructor and is a huge test of nerve and daring.

So why not step out of your everyday routine and do something different to raise money. We can arrange for these jumps to take place most Fridays and Saturdays in the year at Whitchurch Airfield.

If you’ve always had a burning ambition to soar through the clouds, call Michelle Price on 0845 2255 497 or email michelleprice@compton-hospice.org.uk

Hike Offa’s Dyke - 11th to 13th July 2008

Hike Offa’s Dyke

Offa’s Dyke Path is one of twelve designated National Trails. Built by Offa, King of Mercia 757 – 796 AD, the Dyke formed the boundary between England and Wales, running from Prestatyn in the north, 182 miles south to Sedbury. Men from the border country along the Mercian (English) side all had to contribute: they could send food or they could build 128cm of dyke.

Hike Offa’s Dyke

This trek crosses through the heart of the Black Mountains before dropping down through the wooded forests of Mynydd Du to the lush Vale of Ewyas.

A steep ascent takes us up onto the Dyke path, overlooking the Olchon Valley to the east as we head north towards Hay on Wye. Our finishing point is Hay Bluff, overlooking the ancient town renowned for its second-hand book shops and cafes; a wonderful finale to an awesome and challenging weekend.

Hike Offa’s Dyke

If you think you have got the stamina to complete this challenge and would like further information, please contact michelleprice@compton-hospice.org.uk or telephone 0845 2255 497.

The Great Wall Challenge - 24th October to 3rd November 2008

The Great Wall

Stretching 6000km in a dotted line across China, the Great Wall was begun in the 5th Century BC. As it snakes across the mountains it conjures up a sense of history which is difficult to grasp until you have had the opportunity to experience it.

Now here is your chance!

The Great Wall

We are offering a trek that is varied, through woodland and terraced farmland, following the contours of the beautiful hills and mountains in remote areas North of Beijing. You would be trekking on old sections of the Great Wall, as well as restored sections with smooth flagstones and lots of steps!

This challenge is physically demanding and offers fabulous scenery and a fascinating insight into a rich culture and history.

The Great Wall

If you think you have got the stamina to complete this challenge and would like further information, please contact michelleprice@compton-hospice.org.uk or telephone 0845 2255 497.
