Past Supporters Picnic

To mark Compton Hospice’s Silver Anniversary and also to thank the public for supporting over the last 25 years, the fundraising department held their version of Picnic in the Park. Over 200 invitations were given out to companies, Trusts and the general public who year on year help the hospice raise the £5.4 million needed to carry out the fantastic job it does.

Guests were invited to bring a picnic to the Cedars Site on Compton Road West, where the team of fundraisers provided them with refreshments and an array of entertainment.

Whilst the children kept themselves busy on the bouncy castle, only taking time out to get their faces painted or attack the chocolate fountain, the adults were relaxing to the sounds of Simon Dean, provided free of charge from Intersound Entertainment Agency.

Next to take the stage were dancers from The Starlite Dance Troupe, who dazzled spectators with a varied display of Tap, Modern and Irish Dancing, performed by girls of all ages.

Guests were then taken back a few years when The Two Matts strummed their banjos and sang nostalgic hits from the likes of George Formby.

As a finale to the afternoon Simon Dean reappeared as Meatloaf stunning the crowd with classics such as ‘Bat Out Of Hell’.

The afternoon was a great success, and Compton Hospice would like to thank the following people for donating their time and equipment:
