Music lovers helped to raise more than £560 for Compton Hospice when they turned out to enjoy an evening with one of the city’s leading choirs.
Wolverhampton Orpheus Male Voice Choir performed songs from the shows and a number of religious pieces, together with a solo by Robin Bell, who sang “I’ll walk with God” from the film The Student Prince, to an audience of 170 people at the United Reformed Church in Penn Road last month
With ticket sales and a raffle on the night, the 40-strong choir helped to raise a total of £1330, which was divided between the hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Michelle Price, community fundraiser for Compton, thanked everyone who had attended the event for their support, and said the choir’s efforts had been magnificent.
“I think the turnout for the event underlines the popularity of the choir, and we are delighted they were able to enjoy a fabulous evening of music at the same time as raising such an admirable amount of money for the hospice,” she said.
