Payroll Giving
Please “Make a Difference” by Giving
as you Earn
Would you like to join the many employees in our area who are already generously paying to Compton Hospice each payday?
Thousands of people like you, in work places locally, are using Payroll Giving to support Compton Hospice.
Why?
Because giving direct from your pay is tax-free and the cause you care about benefits from your regular support. Every £1 donated will only cost you 78p (for standard tax payers). The Inland Revenue will pay the 22p tax direct to the hospice. For example, if you pledge £5 from your gross salary each month (£1.25/week), it will only cost you £3.90, but Compton gets £5.00, thanks to the 'taxman' not taking 'his' share.
THAT CAN MEAN AN INCREASE IN VALUE OF AN INCREDIBLE 28%
The increase in value is even greater if you pay higher rate tax.
| Individuals Pledge To Charity (gross) | Cost to Individual @ 22% tax (net) | Cost to Individual @ 40% tax (net) |
|---|---|---|
| £5.00 | £3.90 | £3.00 |
| £10.00 | £7.80 | £6.00 |
| £15.00 | £11.70 | £9.00 |
Who can give?
Anyone can give if their pay or pension is taxed through PAYE and their employer offers a Payroll Giving Scheme.
We are extremely grateful to those people who are already helping us in this way.
You can help by joining your employers' Payroll Giving Scheme - just download and complete the application form (Adobe pdf) and send it to your Payroll Department.
Remember, when you join the Payroll Giving Scheme every gift you make is tax-free.
Message to employers
If you already provide a payroll giving facility - thank you, but please bring to the attention of your employees the fact that donations may be made in this way to Compton Hospice.
To these employers who do not offer a payroll giving scheme to their staff - there is now some excellent news. The Government has launched a new package of incentives to Companies to establish a payroll giving scheme. We can provide you with all details of the programme which includes grants to small and medium Enterprises and an extra incentive whereby the Government will match, to a maximum of £10 per month, each employee donation for the first six months.
