The Medical Team
Compton Hospice has its own medical team who are based at the Hospice but work throughout its catchment area.
The team comprises of:-
- Consultant/Hospice Medical Director Dr D Pearson
- Consultants (also at New Cross Hospital) Dr B Ritzenthaler/Dr C Marlow
- Associate Specialist Dr S Scotton
- 3 Clinical Assistants
- 1-2 Specialist Registrars in Palliative Medicine - as part of the West Midlands Palliative Medicine rotation based at Compton Hospice
- SHOs One full time post
- Part time innovative posts also available
Hospice doctors work within the hospice in-patient and day units. They perform out patient assessments and also visit patients at home in nursing homes and hospitals. The team works 9-5 each weekday and provide an on-call service, which includes advice to other professionals.
The Palliative Care Team at New Cross Hospital works seamlessly with the Hospice Home Care and Medical Team. Dr Ritzenthaler and Dr C Marlow works within the Hospital Team along with one specialist registrar on the West Midlands rotation.
The Hospice Medical team is committed to education and actively participates in teaching at the Cedars Education Centre. The team is involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors and specialist registrars.
